June 28, 2000: The Manifest Transfer program was developed for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune to accept the truck manifest from a PC instead of an IBM computer system. This approach allows the Star-Tribune to transfer manifest files via Ethernet cable to a PC that is connected to the Bundle Distribution System's MicroVAX via a serial port. Software written in Delphi 5, was installed on the PC by Warren Systems. Manifest Transfer is a system tray task that monitors a user selectable folder for the arrival of manifest files. Once a manifest file has been detected, HyperACCESS is invoked via OLE automation (COM - Component Object Model) to transfer the manifest file to the VAX. On the MicvoVAX, modifications allow the manifest to be processed as before.  VMS Skills  Oracle Skills  Fortran Skills  Networking Skills  OLE Automation and DCOM
